Dan Terrio
Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Milwaukee County
Dan Terrio (he/his/him) currently serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Manager for Milwaukee County, WI. Utilizing a Restorative Justice approach to DEI, Terrio presently leads the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts for Wisconsin’s largest County and its 4,000 employees. Terrio aims to bring an Indigenous and LGBTQ+ perspective in his work and key teachings from his tribal community. For over 25 years at the age of 13, Terrio has inspired countless youth and adults from all walks of life with his story of perseverance, strength and determination as a motivational speaker and freelance diversity, equity, and inclusion career.
Terrio later went on to serve two terms as the National Co-President of United National Indian Tribal Youth Inc. (UNITY), the largest American Indian Youth organization in the United States, while traveling to all 50 states presenting his inspiring story from growing up on an Indian Reservation to working in Washington D.C., along with the things that happened in the middle.
Terrio is an accomplished, award-winning corporate education facilitator, a National and TED Certified motivational speaker, leadership/culture development trainer. Terrio is a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians in Northcentral Wisconsin. Terrio holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Norbert College, Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and an executive certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University. Beginning in Fall 2023, Terrio will begin his Doctoral work in Applied Social Justice from Dominican University.
